Helleflynder fra Mr. Murphy & Co

"Hi
Last Days in Ucluelet

Fishing in Ucluelet was very good this spring, despite the wierd weather that has been around in the last month. The overall size is a little less than what we have seen in recent years, but the number of fish has been better than previous years.

The number of adipose clipped Chinook is hard to believe and I will post a guess that it is more than a 90% clip rate so far. Canada clips very few Chinook, so we know that the majority of these fish are all headed south of our border.

Halibut have been plentiful on the inner banks this year and the farthest we had to go out was about five miles from shore. Weather permitting, most trips had limits of both Halibut and Chinook.
Our last day in Ucluelet before heading to Kyuquot is June 19th.
Halibut looks good for this summer as well. A good friend of mine who fishes commercially told me that this was his best year in the last 10 years. He is on a quota, so he always gets his fish, but this year it was quick and there was very little by-catch on undersized Halibut(30 inches or less).

Kyuquot has great Halibut fishing all summer long and we can't wait to hit our honey holes..."
