3 pikes over 10 kilos – the icefishing season has started.
This Saturday (November 27th) Team Kinetic blogger Jonas Olsson from Forserum, Sweden was hoping for the ice to be strong enough for an icefishing trip. The evening before it couldn’t carry his weight, but this morning it was about 6 cm thick. Going out on thin ice is not recommended for inexperienced anglers, but to experienced anglers like Jonas and his friends, who know their local waters really well, the ice was strong enough. The icefishing season in the Småland area had started!
And what a perfect beginning of the season it turned out to be. Jonas and his friends Mikael and Patrik were using Kinetic icefishing rods and reels to haul in several nice pikes. Five of them measured between 93 cm and impressive 124 cm with the biggest weighing 12.17 kg. All of them were of course released unharmed back to their world below the ice.
Encouraged by Saturdays excellent results, Jonas, Mikael and Patrik went out again Sunday. On this trip they were accompanied be another friend Kent as well. The four of them decided to try a different water, but this didn’t keep them from catching big fish. This time the three biggest pikes were 7.03 kg caught by Patrik, 10.56 kg caught by Jonas and 10.74 kg caught by Mikael. The fact that the two biggest measured only 103 cm and 109 cm made it obvious that the pikes from this water are in peak condition.END
