"Hi Les:

We just returned from a 2-day trip out to the 60 mile Giant Banks. Weather perfect and sea oily calm. We filmed the bluefins feeding above and below. The action underwater was beyond anything that I could have imagined. At one time I was in the mackerel shoal with hundreds of bluefins on the attack. Fish 60-100 kilos with some bigger tunas mixing with these schooling fish. Some really big fish filmed at the sea surface blasting the baitballs.

The next day we stayed with a school that was slowly swimming along near the surface. I filmed these fish free diving with Filipe as my companion. He was stunned how fabulous the encounter turned out to be. On several occasions the tunas let us into the middle of the school!! All with beautiful light.

Our crew Rick, Mario, Nuno and Filipe all agreed that this was one special weekend!
Hope the fishing is good in Cape Verde.

Weather here about to change. And yes, the National Geographic guys left two days too early! You just have to pay your dues."

Best, Rick
