Fall salmon fly fishing.

News from Murphy´s
Stamp River Fall Line up

Greetings from Port Alberni,

With the Stamp River in full swing, I thought I should touch base to fill you in on the fishing.

The cooler temperatures this year have the river at the perfect temperature for salmon migration. The river levels are low and are setting up perfectly for fly fishing for salmon. Steelhead numbers are up from the past few years and I think with the lower than average water temperatures, we are going to have some great days.

Coho in the Stamp River

The cooler temperatures this year are bringing the Coho into the Stamp River early. The outer banks offshore are teaming with mature Coho from Ucluelet to Kyuquot. These fish will be a steady stream towards the Stamp for the next three weeks.

We are at the beginning of a great fall season, with the river retention at 2 Coho per person per day.
If you want to give this highly productive fly fishery a try, this is a great time to bring a newcomer or family member to the sport. Our guides are great teachers.

If you're not a fly fisher, generally the first two weeks of October are the best for gear. We have a variety of options and trips, which include drift boats, rafts, jet boats and hiking
We are just at the beginning of our 50 day fall river season, so keep an eye on our updated
river reports for the latest conditions.
Call us anytime for details!
